First Yoga Workshop!!!

Well, our yoga studio, Yoga Elements has successfully hosted its first 3-day workshop with a guest instructor! The pic isn't the best, but this is me (Andi) and Cora Wen. I was able to participate in the whole weekend for the most part- other than twists. Sophia seemed to like it- she moved around like crazy! I can't wait to get her in the studio on a mat- Little Yogini!!! (Oh, we're about 22 weeks, 5 months, in this pic.)

House & Baby Update

Well, so far Sophia has been a MANIAC! She's been moving all over the place, all the time! (I think she's practicing her gymnastics routine.) She loves music- either that or she's trying to tell me not to sing! :-)

We went over to the house site to check out progress yesterday- looks like they filled in the concrete walls for the basement and the starting of the garage! Click here for more pics...

Our Registering Experience

Okay, so if anyone out there is looking for a job or purpose in life, I've got it! What about a Personal Shopper or Shopping Assistant for new moms when they're working on their baby registries?

So here's how the experience went: First I went to Baby Depot (in Burlington Coat Factory)- BIG MISTAKE!!! I would never ask any of my loved ones to ever set foot in this store- horrible service, empty boxes thrown everywhere, things all over the place. The bedding sets were dirty so the whites didn't look right with the white furniture. Then there were 30 strollers all lined up with no info and nobody around to help. Needless to say, I literally ran out of that store crying.

So Babies R Us & Target was much better, except that being a new mom I had no idea what I was supposed to register for. I got this checklist, which helped, but how do you choose from 35 types of pacifiers? Well, poor Jackie got a phone call and got to listen to my meltdown- yes, right there in the store. After that, I was feeling better and things got a little easier from there.

It would have really helped to have a person there, not to sell me on things, but to advise me on what's necessary, and what's not. Or to point out the function of things. So, good luck on your career choice- let me know how it goes and I may need you someday! :-)

Chiroprator Visit

On the advice of several pregnant women, I tried out a chiropractor today. Now, I'm skeptical about chiropractors and I figured this would be my only visit- afterall, it's kind of a luxury, right? Kinda like getting a massage? Boy was I wrong.

I really didn't have any complaints necessarily- some low back, some neck. After some posture checks and adjustments (which were a little traumatic) I realized how "crunchy" my neck had been and how that may have been contributing to recent headaches.

So here's another cool thing: doc said I had some immobility around the lower thoracic area. Just so happens that the nerves to the kidneys are around in this spot! She suggested that the immobility might have contributed to the kidney problems I've been having! Crazy huh?

So, I'm going to go back until I feel like it's not helping anymore- obviously I'm still a little skeptical. But I have to say, I'm definitely more impressed with the whole experience than I thought I would be...

House Update- Apr 9th

So as Andi gets bigger so does the house! We visited the lot on Easter and got some pics. Looks like they've dug the hole and already laid the foundation and structure of the basement. I met with the builder today and he shared a great piece of news: the contractor accidentally built the basement with 9-foot ceilings instead of 8-foot ceilings so we got a free upgrade!

Great News- well, kinda.

Great news! Well, relatively great news. The doc confirmed the kidney stone but said there was "mild" hydronephrosis and this is actually found in about 50% of pregnant women. The process of getting rid of a kidney stone is drinking lots of water and taking pain meds. So, my next step is to see what happens and if I experience another horrible episode then I'm going to a urologist. The doc warned that the urologist may not be able to do much, especially since I'm pregnant but it'd be good to be working with a specialist. So, now we have to hurry up and wait...

Good thing is, that I'm not feeling horrible right now. So we're going to just see what happens next...

Kidney Stone Party

Well, I finally got tired of the continuing pain and called the doc who had me get a renal ultrasound done. Basically, there's a KIDNEY STONE PARTY going on that I wasn't invited to. A few were found in my left, but most in my right. The tech found some hydronephrosis, which is basically the uterus pushing against the ureters, which could or could not cause blockage- we'll have to see what the doc says about that. The good news is that there is not total obstruction b/c the kidney is still emptying into the bladder.

As bad as this sounds, I'm relieved they found stones, so now I know I'm not crazy and I can understand the situation more. The pain is still there and I'm taking meds to help that- now I just have to find out what the doc wants to do from here...ugh!

So...while she was down there, I asked the tech what the gender was of the baby. We had a great time watching it hiccup, yawn, make fists, point, play peek-a-boo, and basically perform a gymnastics routine. She looked as hard as she could and just couldn't be definitive- bummer. She said that she couldn't find the lines that a girl would have but she couldn't find the little penis either. So she said that if the penis isn't hiding she'd bet it's a girl- but not to quote her- too late! :-) I have a feeling it's a girl too, but we still have two weeks before we find out for sure...so don't go around telling everyone we're having a girl!!!
